Rescue Me ID: 18-02-07-00246Brenna (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

**COURTESY POSTING** Brenna's current guardians found her abandoned in a park and need to find her a home: 'She was a stray we picked up out in the desert (we live behind San Tan Regional Park) just after Thanksgiving. She was obviously dumped out here, without any ID, at about a year old. We had her into the vet for shots and spaying, and really want to keep her. She is sooo sweet and friendly to us and our kids (we have three teens). However recently she's starting to initiate fights with our other dogs, especially our older labradoodle (Chava is 12 yrs old and we've had him since 8 weeks). We also have a few other small dogs (Caesar the ... (Read More)chihuahua, Alex the terrier mix, and Harley the miniature poodle.... all rescues) who's safety we're concerned for. Last night when we got home after being out to celebrate a birthday there were two bad fights between Chava and Brenna and she was continued to aggressively pursue him after. We're heartbroken to give her up and really don't want to bring her to the county. We feel she would be great in a single dog home, super sweet and highly responsive to people, easily trained, and housebroken.' http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=12641981 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-26-00287Hiro (male)

Shar-Pei Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This sweet boy has been through a lot. He is such a happy-go-lucky, goofy boy with personality plus! Hiro wants to please his humans YET has more than likely had MANY restrictions in his past life, so he will take advantage of situations until corrected or requested to do otherwise, but then gladly do what asked because he is a pleaser! Hiro was brought into rescue and thought to be a 'senior'. Ohhhhh, no, this boy has not hit mid life yet, best guess would be 4 yrs old. He can chase and retrieve a ball, he will play with some other toys at times, but balls are his favorite. He rides in the car well and LOVES treats at all times. ... (Read More)Hiro does have valley fever, which was eroding his entire right front leg and shoulder prior to his rescue. His leg is gone now, and he is on valley fever medicine, which he will more than likely be on for life. But he is a good pill taker, so it should not be an issue. Hiro is in a foster home with 4 other dogs, and with a slow introduction, there is no reason he cannot be in a home with other well-behaved dogs. He is gaining some wonderful social skills in his foster home! If you think Hiro would fit with your family and you would like to meet him, please fill out an adoption form and let's set something up! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-26-00284Willy Wonka (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E baby boy is a gorgeous dachshund mix. Willy Wonka was going to be euthanized by the shelter because he didn't have 'anal tone' and appeared to have issues with his bladder as well. 2nd Chance rescued him and we immediately took him to a neurologist for x-rays and an MRI. Both revealed that Willy Wonka doesn't have any feeling in his nerves to his intestines and colon; therefore he has no control over his bladder or stool. In speaking with the specialists, Willy's condition isn't so much dangerous to his health as it is 'an inconvenience.' Willy's care involves the need to wear waist band wraps and expressing his bladder ... (Read More)(manually release), in addition to daily stool softeners or enemas in order to assist him with bowel movements. Even though we were informed that we should consider putting Willy down, we felt that as long as his condition could be manageable with the proper care, we were going to give our boy a 2nd Chance, as Willy is SO FULL of life and love. He deserves to live, we are just hoping we can find a loving family that is willing to give him that chance. If you think you could open your heart, your home, and provide Willy with the ongoing care he needs, we would provide for his medical and living expenses for six months, and work closely with you to make sure that Willy and his family are appropriately supported for success. Blue works with a trainer, enjoys playing in the yard, laying in the warm sun, long walks and hanging with his foster family members. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This sweet girl was going to be euthanized at the shelter because she has ringworm. We could not let her be killed for something so treatable. We rescued her and treated her for ringworm and kennel cough, and she has bounced back perfectly! We changed her name from Bridgette to MOCHA - a happy new name to go along with her 2nd Chance! We haven't yet had an opportunity to see how she does with other animals, so at this time we are hoping for a home without any. Rescue Me ID: 18-01-26-00271Petunia (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Petunia (and I answer to 'Tuna, Petunia Jane or PJ), and I'm a 3 year old Terrier/dachshund (yes, really) mix. I'm also called Pretty Princess at times, but don't know why. I'm a family dog that loves to play, run alongside the bike, suntan outside, and snooze on my bed or the couch. I love toys, treats and sleeping with a blanket. I get along well with my dog brother and other medium-large-extra large dogs, but not with small dogs. I will need some introductions to any dogs already in my new house. My mom doesn't think I would be good with cats based on their size. I love kids (I have a 12 and 14 year old human sister and ... (Read More)brother), and I am well trained. I practice loose leash walking, 'leave it', 'find it', come, stay, and touch. I am very healthy, and currently take a small daily dose of doggie Prozac because I get a little anxious when people let their dogs run loose in the park my house overlooks. I might not need that in my new house. My family loves me very much and wants me to have the best home. They don't want to have to let me go live with a new family, but want to do the right thing for me. I protected my yard from an off leash small dog, and the man tried to hurt me with a golf club. My mom doesn't want to take any chances that someone might do anything bad to me. (Less)

Sydney recently lost his human mom to cancer - our founder Diana Czarnecki's mother. He is a beautiful 7 year old orange tabby, he is strictly an indoor cat and is used to a quiet and loving home. Sydney is extremely loving and sweet, he loves to sit on the bathroom sink and be brushed. Sydney is neutered and up to date on vaccines, he is on special food due to having crystals and needs to remain on the food for the rest of his life. He is used to being the only cat and may be ok with a low energy, non-dominant dog. We are hoping to find him a home in the East Valley. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-08-00354Cooper (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*COURTESY POSTING* Cooper is young, handsome, and FUN! He looooves people and is such a lovable guy. A Good Samaritan is helping adorable Cooper find a new home, after his last home had to give him up. Cooper is very friendly and has never met a person he doesn't like! He is very strong and due to that and his enthusiasm, would do best in a home with adults at the age he is. He LOVES to have fun!! He sits for treats and works with a trainer weekly. Two visits with this trainer are included in the adoption fee to learn the commands he has been working on. He has learned to walk well with a Freedom Harness, which will be given to the ... (Read More)new owner, including his Kong and toys. A dog crate will also be provided as he has had some separation anxiety in the past. If you are in the east valley (Mesa), Cooper's guardian will dog sit free for life if you work and need him to go on bathroom breaks. Since he still has 'puppy brain' as many dogs of this breed do until they are 3 or 4, he needs exercise daily, which would be a nice long walk or if it is too hot, he loves to chase his Kong and will do so for 45 minutes! Cooper will eventually outgrow his current energy level as they all do, but needs daily activity and interaction. He is a very loving dog and after a good play session or long walk, he likes his belly rubbed and is a couch potato who's content to lounge. He is good in the car. He requires a block wall yard. He was housetrained before going to the kennel but could have an adjustment period as some dogs do after not being in a home for months. He is VERY smart and willing to learn new things. He previously lived with a small female dog, but he is very dog selective. He does not like male dogs and has liked very few female dogs. (His former roommate whom he lived with has just been rescued also). He does not like cats. If you are interested in this handsome boy, please fill out an adoption or foster application, and we will send it to his current guardian so that she can contact you! Thank you very much. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dice's story is based on love/devotion/ tragedy and heartbreak. Dice's owner was a veteran and for the past two years Dice was his loyal companion. Even thou she wasn't certified Dice was Joe's service dog and went everywhere with him, she even wore the vest. Whenever Joe had nightmare's Dice would wake him up by gently kissing his cheek. Just a short time ago, Dice's owner Joe was gunned down in front of his home with his beloved girl just a few feet away (inside the house). Two bullets went through the wall where Dice was patiently waiting for Joe to open the door so she could help him. Sadly Dice never got the chance to help Joe and ... If this story isn't tragic enough, after losing her owner, Dice also lost her home and if it wasn't for a good friend of Joe's and Dice who contacted 2nd Chance, Dice would probably be sitting in the county shelter. Dice is heartbroken and confused, we are doing everything we can to ensure her that she is safe and loved. We are looking for a loving home (preferably with a veteran who will not only love and take care of Dice, but would also benefit from a loyal companion).     Clarence came to us by way of the county shelter, where he was about to be euthanized because lack of space. Our boy is one of the lucky ones - we scooped him up and gave him his 2nd Chance. Clarence is a great dog; we think he suffers from 'Brown Dog Syndrome' - similar to black dogs - he just gets passed up because he is one of many, many brown dogs out there. But we can tell you that Clarence is a special boy. Loving, extremely devoted, and a bit of a clown; he would do best as an only dog. Since he has been in rescue for a few years, we are offering the assistance of a trainer to help integrate him into a home environment for free, ... (Read More)to his adoptive family. Note from Clarence: At 7 years old, I still have plenty of energy to be your hiking buddy...playing in the water and taking car rides are just a few of my favorite things to do. I am neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an Adoption Consultation Application! I am so ready for a forever home! http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=2086585 (Less)
