Rescue Me ID: 16-11-01-00323Maddie (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet petite (30-35 lbs.) senior Maddie is adorable and it is very APPARENT that Maddie had a home before and she wasn't mistreated, she is housetrained, well-mannered and EXTREMELY loyal. She gets along with other animals and children (when I had her at the park she kept going up to the kids on the swing). We rescued her from the pound with a huge tumor, but she just had surgery to remove it, and the vet is very happy with the surgery. She wins over the hearts of everyone she meets, and although technically a senior at approximately 8 years old, she has a lot of life and love in her. She is quite possibly the perfect little girl for ... (Read More)someone that wants an older dog that already knows the ropes and doesn't have the energy needs of a younger dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-05-00376Preston (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Preston is absolutely PRECIOUS! Scooped up from county after being adopted out and then returned for a very minor skin ailment, we were adamant this guy get his 2nd Chance at a FOREVER home. He is doing amazing, and getting treated for the skin issue, which was indeed minor. He's ready for his foster or forever family to show him all the love this sweet boy deserves! He is great with people and other well-behaved dogs; we'd prefer a home with either no children or children past the toddler stage, as he is unsure around very small children. This young man (approximately 2 years old) is doing excellent in his training sessions with our ... Rescue Me ID: 16-09-13-00380Simon (male)

Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We rescued Simon from the county shelter in late summer 2016. Poor guy was sick with a very treatable upper respiratory infection and very thin - but under our vet's care, he quickly rebounded and is now in a foster home, looking for a forever family that won't let him end up in a situation like that again! He's gorgeous, young, friendly, and learning the ropes from his wonderful foster mom. If you would like to meet Simon and see if he might be a 'super' fit for your family, please fill out an Adoption Consultation form and we'll get in contact with you! http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10562957

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-12-00362Buddy (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy is an approximately year and a half old lab mix. He came to the county shelter from a location near the one of the Native American reservations and was at first very shy and fearful. County shelter volunteers worked with him, and found that he definitely was housetrained and had obviously lived in a home sometime in his life. He became a shelter favorite, and volunteers worked on getting him over some of his fear and shyness. He is continuing that progress in his amazing foster home! He loves going for walks. He loves cheeseburgers. He is the sweetest boy who is just learning that a family and home are good things. He is dog ... (Read More)friendly with proper introductions and appears to be good with cats. He takes a little time to warm up to people and trust them and he is slowly learning that a gentle touch from a person isn't that bad. Buddy needs a home with someone who loves to go for walks and is patient and able to give him the time to build the bond. He would be a loyal and faithful boy for life. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10435954 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-01-00585Lucy (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

**COURTESY POSTING** Loyal Lucy is an extremely sweet and loving American Bulldog mix that was rescued from county and adopted out a couple of years ago, only to end up there again after her adopted family moved and gave her away. She ended up a stray and her current temporary foster took her in from county so that Lucy could avoid the E-list. Lucy is approximately 68 lbs, although her temporary foster is working on getting her weight down a bit, and working on her leash manners. She is current on all of her shots, and tested negative for valley fever. Lucy obviously had a rough start in her life as her teeth are mostly filed down - the ... (Read More)vet believes that she was used for breeding, and then as a bait dog. But she doesn't let that get her down, no way! She loves life and her people - she is very loving and wants nothing more than to be near them. She is good with other dogs if given time to do a slow introduction. She is very cat curious, so a home without felines is best. She is definitely curious about outside dogs. Lucy needs to find a more permanent foster situation or a forever home. Let's help Lucy find that wonderful family that will finally give her the proper loving home this girl so richly deserves. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10389481 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-09-00356Sandy (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

**COURTESY POSTING** Sandy is an approximately 8 year old medium sized, mixed breed dog. Possibly shepherd/lab mix. She has had a very rough life. Sandy was on her own in the desert for a long time, having multiple litters of puppies. She was so terrified of humans though that it took a year to catch her. Finally one hot summer day, she gave up and walked right into a kennel. After an exam, it was found that Sandy was pregnant again, severely malnourished, and had heartworm. After having her puppies, she was treated for heartworm and her true personality came out. Her foster mom noticed that she was starting to limp one day so she went to ... (Read More)the vet. After an Xray is showed Sandy has a bullet in one of her legs. Part of it was removed but she still has some fragments in her rear leg. This doesn't slow her down though! She has an amazing amount of trust towards humans after everything she has gone through. She loves to relax inside and play with other dogs. She has moments when she jumps around acting like a puppy but is the low maintenance of a senior dog. Sandy would love to go to a home with another dog and a home that would give her the attention and love she has needed her entire life. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10259871 (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

In honor of another sweet senior we rescued that recently went to the Rainbow Bridge, we decided to rescue this Emily, another senior in desperate need of rescue from the county shelter. Emily was in need of major dental work and is blind in both eyes (due to a severe case of dry eyes). She will require daily eye drops for the rest of her life. She is currently being fostered, and will make a loving addition to someone's 'furever' home. If you would like to be that somebody, please fill out an adoption application and we will get in touch with you about meeting her.

Pekingese Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Can you believe this ADORABLE guy was literally moments away from dying when we rescued him? When our volunteer got to the East county shelter to rescue Emily, another senior dog, she was made aware of a blind senior that was literally moments away from euthanasia. Of course we had to save Pico too...! Pico is such a sweet boy, and does so well despite his limitations. His left eye is deformed which was probably a birth defect, and he is completely blind in his right eye as well. He is being temporarily fostered by one of our Foster Hero volunteers, but we are hoping to find another, longer-term foster, or a foster-to-adopt home. If you ...     **COURTESY POSTING** ADORABLE Sparky is a 13-month-old, Boxer mix, that was rescued by her current guardian a few months ago. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Awesome Angelo was rescued from the county shelter after almost two weeks there with bite wounds, a leg injury and swelling. We scooped him up to get him to our vet, and thankfully found that this angel was already on the mend. He is SUCH a good boy, just a happy and easygoing guy. He's about 2 years old, and passed his shelter behavior evaluation, so we believe he is good with other dogs, but as always, we would want to do proper introductions with any resident dogs to see if they are a match.
